Supported devices

The watches Ovomind works with, and what happens when that changes.

Maintained by Ovomind

In short: Ovomind needs two signals from the same wrist device: optical pulse and electrodermal activity. Skin temperature is used in addition where the device exposes it, and improves accuracy, but it is not a condition of support. A watch that carries the two required signals, and that we have tested and qualified, appears on this page. A device that is not on this page is not supported. We add devices as we qualify them, and we give ninety days’ notice before removing one.

This page is referred to by our Player Terms, Developer Terms and Creator Terms. It is maintained separately from them, so adding a device does not change any agreement.

  1. What makes a device compatible

Two signals are required, and they have to come from the same device on the same wrist, at a sampling rate our models can read. A third improves the result where it is available.

  1. Optical pulse (PPG) — required. The green-light sensor most watches already carry.

  2. Electrodermal activity — required. Skin conductance, sometimes called micro-sweating or galvanic skin response. This is the signal most watches do not expose, and it is usually why a device does not qualify.

  3. Skin temperature — optional. Where a device exposes it, we use it and the result is better. A device that does not is still supported if it meets a and b.

Carrying the sensors is not on its own enough. The device platform also has to let the Ovomind app read them at a usable rate. A watch can have every sensor and still not qualify, because the operating system does not make them available to applications.

  1. What each status means

  1. Supported  Tested and qualified. Everything Ovomind offers works on this device.

  2. In qualification  We are testing it. It is not supported yet, and we do not promise that it will be. Nothing on this page is a commitment to support a future device.

  3. Support ends on a date  The device still works until that date. See section 4.

  4. Not supported  Either we have tested it and it does not meet the requirement in section 2, or we have not tested it. Ovomind will not work on it.

  1. Adding and removing devices

4.1 Adding. We add a device to this list once it has passed qualification. Adding a device does not change your agreement with us and needs no notice — you simply gain an option you did not have before.

4.2 Removing. We will not remove a device from this list without at least ninety (90) days’ notice to people using it, except where a third party, the law, or a safety or security issue requires otherwise — in which case we will give as much notice as we can. During the notice period the device keeps working and the page shows the end date.

4.3 If the only compatible device you own is removed and you hold a Premium subscription, you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused part of the period you have paid for.

4.4 For studios. Where Ovomind becomes aware that a device on this list has been discontinued or is no longer supported by its manufacturer, we notify affected Studios, remove it from this list, and use reasonable efforts to identify and qualify a suitable alternative device. See Developer Terms clause 8.3.

  1. Asking us about a device

If you would like us to look at a device that is not listed here, write to support@ovomind.com with the model name. We cannot promise to qualify it, and we cannot give a timeline, but we do keep a record of what people ask for and it informs what we test next.

Ovomind does not manufacture watches and has no control over them. We make no warranty about the continued availability, compatibility or fitness for purpose of any third-party device.
